I was cleaning out my closet today and came across a packed gym bag. An interesting fact about me: at any given moment I have one or two gym bags packed and ready to go (often complete with shoes). I’ll pack a bag, and then if I don’t use it, I won’t bother unpacking. Sometimes I may add additional items if I think the weather will be different than what I initially thought. .
So anyway.. today’s gym bag. I unpacked it, and was amused at what I had:

I don’t even know what pair of shoes those are: I have been alternating two other pairs faithfully, and these ain’t them. I don’t know how I managed to pack *three* head coverings, and believe it or not, this is still an incomplete pack – no socks!!
I’ve never used a running hat. Never could figure out why they are a necessity for some runners. Why do people wear them?
I have no idea why anyone would wear three! I started wearing a hat when I saw a finisher’s photo of me without one once
my bangs were plastered against my head, looked pretty bad! So it’s totally about vanity for me!
I wear a hat to keep the sweat from running down my forehead and on to my face. It’s not good to wear a hat when it is hot though as it keeps the heat in your head that would escape through you scalp.
really, interesting. I tend to wear a hat often when it’s warm, to keep the sun out of my eyes, and keep thr sun OFF my scalp..
I wear a running hat for a few reasons, usually when it is hot, it stays wet and keeps me cool, or I can stuff a wet sponge up there and have it slowly drip down on me (when I did the Tupper Lake Tinman this year, I filled my hat with a handful of icecubes at one of the aid stations and it kept me cooler surprisingly long).
I also wear it to hide my horrible hair
I ALWAYS wear a hat on a long run or in a race. It keeps all the hair in place, keeps your head cool or warm, keeps the sun out of your face, and it just looks cool to wear a hat from the Boston Marathon.
