Take It And Run Thursdays

I recently started reading Heather Daniel’s blog, and she posted a link to the Runner’s Lounge, where people are supposed to ask a running question and wait for people to answer. So I figured I’d give it a try:

1. How do you focus your training plans for different distances? i.e. post-marathon, how do you prepare for a 10K?

Great question. I'm not sure I have a good answer either. I do have a few rules I use when preparing for a race. (Not that I've been running or racing all that long!)

    1. Keep your mileage up.

    2. Do one long, easy run per week

    3. Do one hard, intense workout -such as hills or speed work, per week.

    4. Look online for race training plans and then use their suggestions to tailor your own (I especially life Jeff Galloway and Hal Higdon's approach)

    5. Have fun training! It's the best part.
