A few minutes ago, JenniferLaycock recommended her ~1500 twitter followers check me out. Evidently she’s cultivated a good trust relationship with them, for my number of followers immediately increased!

I use the screen name "afhill" on a fairly consistent basis.
I'm interested in building my network of contacts on Twitter, StumbleUpon, Sphinn, and other social sites. However, I only connect with people on LinkedIn if I can indeed vouch for their work, and I tend to restrict my Facebook friends to people I've met in person. Thanks for understanding!

That jump in followers you’re experiencing is a little something I like to call the Laycock Effect. It’s similar to the Brogan Bump. Both are very cool social media phenomena.

LOL, thanks Lara. With my name, there are so many worse things you could have called it than the Laycock Effect.
Though I dunno, I think I would have voted for the “Laycock lift.”
Andrea, those followers are deserved. Never hurts to just give folks a boost to help them find their way to where they would have ended up anyway.
