>I should keep up on your postings more often. =^)

Yes, you should! :) Actually I am going to be setting up RSS feeds for the various categories on the site, so ppl can subscribe specifically to the parts that interest them. I know my personal interests are a bit too broad for most :)

When one digs into the information from Google about their ability to index flash, it is full of caveats. At a Search conference in Dec 08, it is still clear that they are not real close in true indexing of content. The panel on SEO & Flash made that clear.

Another point was made clear. One can use Flash and still have a search able site. Check out Disney's site for a good example. But few companies have the budget Disney can to creating a site like that. So what's left for the remaining 99%?

Simply, lots of work around's get costly and time consuming to implement. You can spend the next year of your life with a metal detector, combing the beaches of the world, but there is probably a better way to make money faster.

Same with flash sites. One can put a ton of time into an all flash site, work out methods of progressive degradation, etc, or one could go a faster more proven route of making a hybrid site and not stuffing mission critical content in flash.

In 2001, Google adopted the Macromedia SDK and press releases followed saying they were going to start indexing flash. Then.... nothing happened. Zip forward to current times, and it appears it's going to be a rinse and repeat. The information about their "progress" is full of but's and if's and maybes.

I'm not down of flash. I just think we need to keep the indexibility of flash in perspective. It might happen to some degree, but it won't mean that everyone should start making all flash sites.

Think about it. In 2002 Google started indexing PDFs, but that doesn't mean a site should be build in PDF.
