Today marks the end of my first week at Resource. I’m happy about the people, the work and the environment, in general. Where else can you come back to your desk on your second day to a coffee mug full of starburst and a copy of “The Long Tail“? The whole environment definitely appeals to my split techie/businessy personality.
The work will be challenging right off the bat, I have been pouring over flex and atg resources, but so far it’s not too daunting. The fact that I was recommended internally by a classmate, did one phone interview and five in-person interviews actually has helped alot because I know who to turn to with questions. I do find it a bit odd that several people now have mentioned finding this very blog prior to my applying to work here… hi guys!
It’s been great to really be able to immerse myself in flex. I’ve asked a few of the guys at work about best practices, etc, and have been able to try out building components: first within a single file, then breaking them out as .mxml components, and finally recreating them using actionscript. I feel fairly comfortable thus far, although I know there is plenty more to learn!
